Night Vision Equipment

We handle of lot of night vision (NV) solutions here at GlosGunCo, assessing your requirements, your budget and performance parameters. Our excellent range of night vision equipment reflects our experience with this industry and we always work our hardest to ensure your investment in such technical equipment is well informed and suited to your task.

NV can be broadly separated in to 3 generic types: Light Amplification, Digital and Thermal.

As NV systems move towards both digital and thermal solutions, we remind you here of the range and type of equipment available: Also, see our short guide to Night Vision equipment video HERE

Light Amplification Tube Commonly known as First, Second and Third generation units. Using light sensitive isotopes, the commonly recognised ‘green’ hued picture varies and gets better the higher the ‘Generation’. First Generation offers 40-70 yard performance, greatly benefitting from additional infra-red light. Solutions are generally well under the thousand pound bracket, with prices starting from around £500. Commonly used by airgunners and rimfire users. Second generation units tend to offer true 100-150 yard versatility, in both monocular and dedicated riflescope guise. Price wise, for the extra usable range, expect to pay around £1500-£2500.

Third Generation models top the price bracket and offer the best picture, with high quality Russian and American tubes providing the heart of the unit. True 300-400 yard performance, but at a price. Expect to part with several thousands of pounds for a top quality unit.

Digital Solutions The digital age has even arrived with NV equipment, with the new units from Pulsar proving very cost-effective, offering performance akin to Generation Two optics, for around half the cost. The Pulsar N550 DigiSight has been a runaway success across the UK and we have sold a huge amount of them – to airgunners, rimfire and centrefire users alike. Thermal Imaging As technology drops in price and becomes more freely available, expect to see more of these units come onto the civilian market. The units see the infra-red ‘heat’ signature of both people and animals. Typically costing many thousands of pounds, expect to see costs drop substantially as this market progresses.

**RECOMMENDED PRODUCT!! ** Yukon Exelon Gen 1+ monocular. Excellent value at £279.95, this unit offers a great, clear image for a Gen.1 unit, and with its built in infra-red illuminator, offers 100+ metre recognition of foxes and people. Rabbits would be identifiable to 70-80 metres, dependant on lighting conditions. A GGC top seller and top value!!

NV and You – How can it benefit you? As a small island, the UK has a lot of people on it, often very concerned with your business, especially if it involves the use of firearms at night, typically when controlling pest species. The traditional use of a lamp involves creating a very obvious ‘signature’ – people can see you whilst you perform your role at night. In today’s society, we hear all too often about Police being called to deal with ‘armed poachers’ when it was actually an innocent chap with an airgun and lamp. Night Vision enables you to reduce this signature, enabling the operator to quite simply, disappear in to the night. The use of monoculars and dedicated scope systems can result in more efficient pest control, especially with lamp-shy foxes and rabbits.
